Tragic end for Russian influencer: Murdered over cruel taunts

Katerina Karaglanowa was studying at a Moscow medical university, aspiring to become an oncologist.

In her daily life, she loved travel topics. Her Instagram profile had over 80,000 followers.

Investigators claim that the 24-year-old was murdered during the night of July 22-23, 2019, in the apartment she was renting. A neighbour told reporters they heard screams.

Her body was found only after several days. The naked body was packed in a suitcase. She died from 19 stab wounds, with injuries to her neck and chest.

33-year-old IT specialist Maxim Gareev confessed to the brutal murder. He also stated that he paid Katerina for their nights together, though she cruelly mocked him.

On the unfortunate day, she reportedly joked about his bed skills and earnings, saying he would only earn enough for their next meeting in a year.

Perhaps Maxim was also jealous of her acquaintance with a wealthy 52-year-old friend.
