Details of Marco's passing were made public by his grandmother, Esther Wojcicki, via a Facebook post.

Our family suffered an unspeakable tragedy yesterday. My beloved grandson, 19-year-old Marco Troper passed away. Our family is reeling from the loss - she expressed in a grief-stricken post.

Esther detailed how Marco was enjoying the second semester of his freshman year at the University of California, Berkeley, where he studied Mathematics. - He had forged strong bonds with friends from his dormitory in Stern Hall and members of his Zeta Psi fraternity. He was thriving academically. At home, he would share vivid tales of his life and friendships in Berkeley - she reminisced in the Facebook post.

Did the 19-year-old die due to a drug overdose?

The definitive cause of Marco's death remains uncertain. The police have confirmed that there were no indications of a crime related to his passing on campus. However, Marco's grandmother, in an interview with "SFGATE," stated that her grandson had died as a consequence of a drug overdose.

He consumed a substance, we don't yet know what it was... But one fact is clear: it was a drug - she confessed.
