Restaurant building collapsed. 4 dead
The terrace of the Medusa Beach Club in Playa de Palma collapsed on Thursday evening. About 100 rescue workers fought through the night, trying to save people trapped under the building's remains. As a result of the building collapse, four people were killed.
Witnesses say that at the time of the incident, many customers were on the restaurant's terrace, including foreign tourists.
"The first-floor terrace collapsed, likely due to weight, although this is still being investigated," The Sun reported. One resident said the sound of the collapse was like a bomb. People who survived were comforting each other on the street. Psychologists were also called to the scene.
Emergency services are still on-site. The search continues in the basement of the restaurant, which also collapsed.
