Tragedy strikes as Chavuma FC players killed in bus crash

Seven players from Chavuma Town Council FC, a third-league team from Zambia, were killed in a bus accident on Saturday. The team was traveling for a league match in the country's northwestern part. Twelve people were injured, including five who were taken to the hospital.

The tragedy happened on Saturday when the bus driver, carrying nineteen members of the Chavuma Town Council FC team, lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a rollover.

The players were en route to a third-league match.

Seven people lost their lives in the accident, and twelve were injured. Five were hospitalized, and the remaining injured received assistance at the scene. The condition of several individuals is critical.

The world of soccer and the Zambian community in mourning

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) expressed deep sorrow following this tragic event.

"We are in contact with football, civil, and law enforcement authorities in the province to learn all the details of the accident," said FAZ President Andrew Kamanga.

The soccer community in Zambia declared a mourning period "for the loss of young talents." Sports and local authorities are also supporting the victims' families. Club representatives met with those who lost loved ones.

Condolences were also expressed by the President of the Confederation of African Football, Patrice Motsepe.
