A black belt holder in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Falcao had clocked up 60 professional fights by October 2021 with a record of 40 wins and 20 losses.

Mere months afterwards, the life of Maiquel Falcao met a grim end. The seasoned combatant died tragically in the same city of Pelotas where he was born four decades earlier. The details surrounding his passing were chilling.

Maiquel Falcao was assaulted on a street in Pelotas, in the vicinity of a local bar. The athlete succumbed to multiple abdominal stab wounds. In a critical state, he was rushed to the hospital where his demise was later confirmed.

The Brazilian athlete had a controversial reputation in the combat sports world. In 2013, he instigated a major brawl at a gas station where he quarrelled with two women, landing a punch on one. The incident was captured by CCTV cameras. Falcao's companion, Kaue Mena, consequently ended up hospitalised in a serious condition.

Reports from Brazilian media indicate that the police are following a lead to the suspected killer, but no further details are known about the progression of this investigation. The upcoming Tuesday marks two years since Maiquel Falcao's untimely death.
