Media: The attacker entered the first available classroom
According to the newspaper "Veczernji list," several injured were transported to hospitals in critical condition. Health Minister Irena Hristić reported that the attacker is over 18 years old. It is unclear whether he was a student at the school where the attack occurred.
As reported by state television HRT, the perpetrator entered the building and the first available classroom, where he attacked the children. A video published in Croatian media shows children fleeing the school building.
Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković expressed horror at the attack and extended condolences to the families of the victims. The Minister of the Interior, Davor Božinović, and the Minister of Education, Radovan Fuchs, arrived at the scene of the tragedy.
The AP agency reminds us that such attacks in Croatian schools are rare. However, in May, a similar incident occurred in neighboring Serbia when a teenager opened fire at a school in Belgrade, killing nine students and a security guard.
