Tragedy in Turkey: French man's beard transplant nightmare
Mathieu, a 24-year-old student from France, had long dreamed of having a thicker beard. With the hope of realizing this dream, he decided to undergo a beard transplant at a clinic in Istanbul, drawn by the attractive pricing of the procedure. According to French media, this is when his nightmare began. Sadly, the young man is no longer alive.
After completing all the necessary tests, Mathieu visited a clinic in Istanbul that the Turkish Ministry of Health approved. According to information from the French newspaper "Le Parisien," the procedure occurred on March 2, 2024. He paid 1,300 euros (approximately $1,380).
The procedure involved transplanting specially selected hair from the back of the head to the beard area. A Turkish "surgeon" assured Mathieu that it was straightforward, but the 24-year-old student sensed something was amiss as soon as he left the operating room.

After the procedure, the young man suffered from burning facial pain and continually festering wounds. Additionally, the hair at the back of his head did not regrow—he lost about a thousand hairs due to the transplant.
Upon returning to France, Mathieu began investigating the clinic's activities and the "doctor" who performed the procedure. It turned out that the alleged surgeon was not medically qualified and worked as a real estate agent.
For two months, Mathieu's family searched for a specialist to correct the failed procedure. Eventually, they found a doctor in Belgium who agreed to attempt reconstruction. Unfortunately, Mathieu did not live to see it.
Just four months after the disastrous procedure, Mathieu took his own life in his Paris room. His father revealed to "Le Parisien" that his son could not bear to see his reflection, feeling as though he no longer recognized himself.
