During the competition in Frisco, Austin Metcalf pointed out to a peer that he was sitting in the wrong place.

In response, the attacker pulled out a knife and attacked Austin. He died in the arms of his twin brother, Hunter, who tried to save him.

“I could see all the blood, and I saw where the wound was, and I was very concerned, so I had to find his brother, and we rushed to the hospital. And we prayed, and it’s God’s plan, I don’t understand it, but they weren’t able to save him. This is murder,” said the victim's father.

The deceased boy's father also expressed sympathy for Anthony's family.

Austin Metcalf was not only a talented athlete but also the captain of his football team. His father highlighted that football was Austin's pride and joy. Austin was chosen as the team's MVP by players and coaches, and he was committed to improving his speed on the track.

What's next for the attacker?

Karmelo Anthony, the 17-year-old perpetrator of the assault, was arrested by police and charged with murder. He is currently in custody.

A few hours after the tragedy, the distraught father of the attacker told the "New York Post," "Everyone has already made their assumptions about my son, but he’s not what they’re making him out to be."

The man insists that his son did not start the fight and had never been aggressive before. “He's a good kid,” he added, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
