Tourist stabbed in Tenerife resort, police launch investigation

Playa de las Americas, located south of Tenerife, is a paradise for tourists and party-goers. The resort witnessed a dramatic event on Sunday morning (July 28). According to British media, a 22-year-old man was stabbed in the abdomen with a knife.

The 22-year-old, with serious injuries, was transported to the University Hospital of Nuestra Señora de Candelaria in Tenerife's capital, Santa Cruz. He is currently in the intensive care unit.

We received a call to the emergency number 999 just before 6:30 AM, requesting help for an injured man who was found on Avenida Antonio Dominguez Alfonso in the Arona municipality, said the spokesman for the Crisis Response Coordination Center.

According to "The Sun," the attacked man is from the UK and was on holiday on the island. This information has not yet been officially confirmed. Local police have launched an investigation into the attack.

As of yesterday afternoon, it was reported that it was unknown if any arrests had been made in connection with this case. However, the latest reports indicate that the police arrested a Spanish citizen. The authorities only stated that "the incident is still under investigation".

British media remind us that the popular resort hit the headlines a few weeks ago. It was one of the last places where Jay Slayter, a 19-year-old Brit, was seen before he died under mysterious circumstances.

The teenager attended a party at Papagayo nightclub in Playa de las Americas. In the footage later circulating online, he is partying on a crowded dance floor. He was intoxicated and had difficulty standing.

After the party, Jay was supposed to spend time with people he met during the night out. Soon, the media reported that the boy disappeared under mysterious circumstances. His body was found after nearly a month of searching near the town of Masca.
