The Titan submarine was sailing with five people on board towards the wreck of the famous Titanic, which sank in 1912. On June 18th, it lost contact with the Canadian ship Polar Prince. According to experts, it imploded.
Continuation of the mission
The recovery of the Titanic wreck has been completed - announced the AP agency, cited by the "Hindustan Times". The mission was carried out under an agreement with the U.S. Navy. Everything took place deep beneath the surface of the Atlantic Ocean. The remains were found at a depth of about 12,467 ft.
The Coast Guard announced that the last parts of Titan were salvaged last Wednesday. A photo was also provided showing the titanium stern cover of the almost 23-foot ship. It was recovered intact. It was not disclosed to which port the remnants of Titan were transported. Meanwhile, the recovered remains, likely human, have been sent for analysis by American doctors.
The case was not closed
Despite the likely end of the Titan wreckage recovery operation, the investigation into the implosion is ongoing. Investigators from the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board and the Canadian Transportation Safety Board participated in the rescue expedition, among other things, to reach evidence. The Titan's operator, OceanGate, has ended its operations.
