During a walk under the illuminated Eiffel Tower, the well-known American TikToker Mark noticed a stall selling crepes. Although the price of 16 dollars seemed high, he was tempted by a crepe with Nutella, strawberries, and bananas.

In a TikTok recording, he acknowledged that it was very expensive but both looked incredible and tasted delicious.

He found a bench a bit away from the tower and the spot where he bought the crepes, and he sat down to peacefully enjoy his "exclusive" dish.

A man sneaked with bags

The tourist quickly regretted his choice. As he sat on the bench finishing his night meal, he noticed the man who had prepared his crepes earlier.

The vendor was carrying large plastic bags, and it was visible that they contained crepe ingredients. To Mark's surprise, the man looked around to see if anyone was watching, went to a sewer grate, opened it, and stored the products inside. "Before I realized what was happening, I had already taken the last bite of my snack," the tourist recounted.

It's nothing unusual in Paris

After returning to the hotel, Mark checked online and found out that the practice of storing food in sewers is not unusual in Paris. Since driving into tourist-crowded areas is heavily restricted, street food vendors don’t want to carry heavy ingredients. They often use these "storage" spaces. The next day, they retrieve the goods and prepare more meals.

Mark's video on TikTok garnered nearly 24 million views and sparked a wave of comments. "The more I learn about Paris, the more shocked I am," wrote one user. "Don’t people know that food near landmarks is a tourist trap almost everywhere?" commented another.

Many users confirmed that they had heard of similar cases and warned against purchasing from street vendors near the Eiffel Tower.

The story highlights the risks of buying street food in popular tourist spots. Tourists visiting Paris should be cautious and choose reputable dining establishments.
