People commonly make mistakes that negatively affect their health and well-being, and one of the prevalent issues relates to bowel movements. So what measures can be taken to prevent this issue?

Though a healthy diet and regular exercise are essential components of maintaining good health and well-being, they also influence issues related to bowel movements - a normal bodily function that not everyone can perform regularly. This irregularity can lead to severe problems like stomach aches, constipation, and diarrhea. According to Dr. Sadovskaya, a nephrologist, it is possible to make a noticeable difference by altering one thing.

Be Mindful of Your Posture on the Toilet

Most bowel problems aren't solely due to our dietary habits, but also derive from the way we sit on the toilet while defecating. If you commonly sit in the standard position - with bent legs and a slouched posture - it might be time for a change.

Dr. Sadovskaya suggested a solution for defecation problems via a TikTok video. She demonstrated that in cases of mild constipation, placing the ankle of one leg on the thigh of the other, slightly twisting the torso, and leaning forward can ease the work of our intestines.

What Should You Do to Alleviate Bowel Problems?

While correct toilet posture is important, there are other aspects that need attention too. Achieving and maintaining good health can be possible when we take care of our bodies and minds. This includes adopting a balanced diet rich in fiber, engaging in regular physical activity such as 20 to 30-minute walks, avoiding habits like alcohol and smoking, and drinking plenty of water - ideally around 0.53 gallons.

If bowel movement and intestinal problems persist despite adhering to the mentioned steps, consulting with a specialist doctor at the earliest should be a priority.
