Famous rapper escorted from the Grammys in handcuffs

Although such ceremonies generally occur without significant scandals or mishaps (barring the occasional fashion faux pas), sometimes events spiral a little out of control. This time, the spotlight is on Killer Mike. Unfortunately, the trio-winning artist (Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Album) was arrested and escorted from the event in handcuffs.

Chris Gardner from The Hollywood Reporter reported the incident on X. He confirmed with officers that the arrest "was unrelated to any incidents during the ceremony". The video he published showed an emotional Mike being led away by police officers.

"Are you serious?! What the hell is going on here?!" The rapper exclaims in the video.

Killer Mike's arrest: Here's what happened

According to reports online, a police spokesperson confirmed that the 48-year-old rapper was arrested in the aftermath of a dispute that took place around 4:00 PM local time and charged with a misdemeanour.

A few hours post-arrest, TMZ released a video shot in front of the building where the altercation occurred. It features the musician engaging in a heated argument with the officers. During this confrontation, there was a reported scuffle. The news platform also reported that the rapper was fined.

By 10:00 PM, Killer Mike's lawyer said the rapper had been released from the station.

"He has been released and plans to celebrate his wins," the lawyer conveyed in an interview with "Variety".
