American soccer player Ashlyn Harris has filed for divorce from Ali Krieger. Media revealed the reasons behind the break-up of the marriage of the two world champions.
As reported by "Sport Bild", the divorce lawsuit was filed in court at the end of September.
Former goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris cited an "irreversible breakdown of her marriage" as the reason for her breakup. The separation - according to German newspaper journalists - is proceeding amicably and without conflict.
Thus, the divorce will occur just under four years after the wedding. Harris and Ali Krieger got married in December 2019, and the ceremony took place in Florida.
The soccer players met each other nine years earlier during a USA team training camp. They became a couple, and in 2018 they got engaged. They have two adopted children: two-year-old Sloane and one-year-old Oceana.
According to media speculation, Harris didn't mourn for long after the breakup and is already seeing a new partner, American actress Sophia Bush.
Harris and Krieger have won the world championships twice with the USA team: in 2015 and 2019. However, the goalkeeper watched both tournaments from the bench.
Harris ended her professional career in November 2022. Meanwhile, Krieger will most likely end her career after the current season.
