Think twice before eating. The banana peel warning you need to know
Bananas are a delicious and nutrient-rich snack. Yet, not everyone knows that sometimes it's better to avoid this fruit, depending on the color of its peel.
Bananas are an excellent source of potassium, a crucial element in our diet. It aids in properly functioning the nervous system and helps maintain the body's acid-base balance. However, a nutrition expert recommends inspecting the peel before consuming the fruit.
If the banana peel looks like this, avoid it at all costs
The color of a banana's peel indicates the fruit's ripeness. A few brown spots suggest the banana is ripe and safe to eat. Such bananas still contain plenty of vitamins and minerals. However, the riper the fruit, the less fiber it has. The situation is different with unripe bananas.

As highlighted in FITBOOK magazine by Prof. Sven-David Mueller, a nutrition expert, consuming bananas with green peels might lead to digestive issues. Unripe bananas can contain toxic substances that are neutralized as the fruit ripens.
The expert also advises avoiding bananas that are brown inside, indicating that fermentation processes have already commenced in the fruit.
Why should we eat bananas?
As mentioned, bananas are rich in potassium. But that's not their only benefit. They also contain other essential nutrients like magnesium, phosphorus, calcium, and zinc, which positively affect our skin, hair, and nails. Moreover, bananas are a source of various vitamins, including A, E, C, B6, and K.
