The worst movie of the year? They spent a fortune on it. Will there be another part?
We have a message for all fans and viewers of the horror movie "The Exorcist". A sequel to the movie: "The Exorcist: Deceiver" will be created regardless of box office results or critical commentary towards the production. However, the studio plans to introduce some changes. What will they concern?
Studio Universal is clear about its plans for the next installment of The Exorcist movie. A few days ago, the installment "The Exorcist: The Confessor" premiered. Specifically, on October 4. Meanwhile, "The Exorcist: Deceiver" is only announced for 2025. Both viewers and critics have not been very receptive to the latest film. Box office revenues also leave a lot to be desired. Despite this, it's certain that the next part will be made.

Why, despite poor results, is Universal so adamant about producing films from the "Exorcist" series? When it's not clear what it's all about, it's about money. The company paid $400 million in 2021 for the rights to a new trilogy. Therefore, it cannot afford to scrap the project now. Under the agreement, Universal also has the option to present the production on the Peacock platform.
When it comes to the latest part of the movie, "Exorcist: Confessor" it only earned a mere 44 million dollars worldwide on opening weekend. On the internet site Rotten Tomatoes, which presents information, reviews, and news from the world of film, the production only scored 23 percent of positive opinions, achieving a 4.5/10 rating. Despite disappointing results, the money spent on the film production has already been recouped.
Two more movies from the "Exorcist" series will definitely be made. The uncertainty at this moment is about who will be the creator. David Gordon Green, who was responsible for "Exorcist: The Confessor," already expresses his doubt about further participation in the trilogy.
The latest installment will hit the web in digital version on October 24th, which is just under three weeks after the theatrical premiere.
