The untold story: Royal dress code clash revealed in Meghan Markle's wedding saga

Although it's been five years this year since the wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, the media is still hashing over the controversial behind-the-scenes of the ceremony. One bone of contention was reportedly the bride's wedding dress. The Queen is said to have considered it inappropriate.

Meghan Markle did not stay long at the British court, but she still managed to make a strong impression, on both other royals, and the employees of the royal estates. Allegedly, Prince Harry's wife could not adapt to the prevailing rules, which could be particularly felt during wedding preparations. Let's recall that the couple got married in May 2018.

Meghan Markle sparked controversy even before the wedding

Rumors circulated by British tabloids are one thing. More reliable sources are books written by people who have been observing the British royal family for years. In her position "The New Royals", Kate Nicholl described accurately the disagreements surrounding Meghan and Harry's royal wedding. The source of the conflict was, among other things, the bride's outfit.

What Meghan wants, Meghan gets! - Prince Harry was said to have yelled at the royal dresser when it was not yet decided which tiara Meghan would borrow from Elizabeth II for her wedding.

The queen herself was surprised when she found out Markle would walk to the altar in a snow-white dress. In her opinion, this color is only reserved for virgins, and as we know, the American woman had already been married once.

Perhaps it's a matter of a generational difference, but she is of the opinion that if you were previously married, you should wear "off-white", just like the Duchess of Cornwall did - wrote Nicholl in her book.

What was Meghan Markle arguing with the queen about?

Meghan was even expected to be reprimanded by the queen. At that time, however, it was not about her wedding attire, but about the wedding snacks. Allegedly, the prince's fiancée was very dissatisfied when she tasted egg in one of the dishes during the tasting...

She was furious. She said the dish was supposed to be vegan and macrobiotic. Then unexpectedly, the queen walked in. She said: "Meghan, in this family, we don't talk to people in that tone" - can be read in "The New Royals".

Meghan would later upset her husband's grandmother often. The queen was purportedly disgusted by the wardrobe of the newly-minted duchess on one of her first trips. Markle was dressed in top designers and fashion houses, including Givenchy. This behavior carried over from her Hollywood days when she could rely on PR packages. However, as a member of the royal family, she had to give them up, which also turned out to be a bone of contention.
