The Toyota FT‑Se is the electric successor to the MR2. Hopefully, it will go into production

Toyota arrived at the Japan Mobility Show with the FT-Se concept, which is a precursor of a sporty electric car. The design looks great and opens a new chapter in the history of the brand.

The FT-Se is an extension of the Sports EV concept shown in 2021. The fact that Toyota is still working on this construction gives hope for a positive finale in the form of a production version. Especially since the car just showcased at the Japan Mobility Show seems almost ready to debut.

However, this is only an illusion, as evidenced by the lack of any technical data. Toyota remains silent on the issue of propulsion, only informing that it is electric. The power and solutions used remain a mystery.

The shapes and proportions of the bodywork suggest a central engine placement, just like in the aforementioned MR2. However, the FT-Se presents itself much more aggressively than its fossil-fueled predecessors, being one of the most attractive Toyotas of recent years.

The concept proudly carries the Gazoo Racing designation and is the division's first fully electric proposal. However, it's still unclear whether it will go into production, supplementing Toyota's range of sports models.

If that happens, many elements will probably be tamed. However, let's hope that it will be to a minimal extent, as both the sharp body and the minimalist interior with the steering wheel make an excellent impression.
