Scrambled eggs are cherished for their simplicity, quick preparation, and endless possibilities for modification. Everyone has their own way of making this dish—some prefer it firm, others soft, with or without additives. But what if there were a way for scrambled eggs to always turn out perfectly creamy with a rich, velvety flavor? The secret ingredient is cream, which is usually associated with soups or sauces. Scrambled eggs made with this addition achieve a whole new quality that's hard to resist.

Why is cream better than butter?

Butter adds a characteristic flavor to scrambled eggs, but it's cream that provides an exceptionally creamy consistency. The fat in cream makes the eggs delicate and velvety while also slightly fluffy. Additionally, cream enriches the flavor of scrambled eggs, giving them a more expressive character.

Creamy scrambled eggs – step-by-step recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 small shallot
  • A few slices of ham, bacon, or a piece of sausage (as desired)
  • A heaping tablespoon of 18% cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chives for garnish

Preparation Method:

  1. Heat the pan: Add half a tablespoon of cream to the pan and heat it over medium heat. The fat from the cream will coat the bottom of the pan, preventing the eggs from sticking.
  2. Sauté the vegetables and additives: Chop the shallot and any additives (like bacon or ham) into small cubes. Sauté them in the hot pan until browned.
  3. Add the remaining cream: Once the vegetables and additives are ready, add the remaining cream and allow it to heat up.
  4. Crack in the eggs: Crack the eggs onto the hot pan. Cook them gently, stirring until the whites are set and the yolks are as liquid or firm as you like.
  5. Season and serve: Season the scrambled eggs with salt and pepper to taste. Sprinkle with fresh chives and serve immediately.

You can modify the basic recipe for creamy scrambled eggs according to your preferences. Instead of bacon, you can add chopped mushrooms, bell peppers, spinach, or other favorite vegetables. You can also experiment with different types of cheese, such as adding grated cheddar or Parmesan just before serving.
