Duchess Kate is a figure who cannot go unnoticed during public appearances. Always elegant, with meticulous attention to every, even the smallest detail of her appearance, she invariably attracts the attention of fashion experts. Many consider her a true style icon, and her outfits, which she presents during official outings, are widely appreciated.

One of the distinctive elements of her style is a handy clutch, which Duchess Kate rarely parts with. However, this is not a random choice nor is it dictated by a desire to follow the latest fashion trends. As etiquette experts reveal, there is something much more important behind this choice.

The clutch that Duchess Kate always carries with her is not only a fashionable accessory, but primarily a tool that helps her avoid awkward situations. As etiquette expert, Myka Meier, explains, the Duchess holds the bag with both hands in front of her when a handshake could be awkward for her.

Such behavior is also confirmed by another royal expert on etiquette, William Hanson. He notes that when the duchess has her hands full, it signals to the speaker that a handshake is not advised. After all, not everyone is familiar with court etiquette, according to which members of the royal family have the right to initiate a handshake. If the duchess does not extend her hand first in a greeting gesture, it is a signal that a simple smile or nod is enough - adds Hanson.

This custom, as it turns out, Duchess Kate inherited from Queen Elizabeth II. Princess Diana also continued it. So it's a kind of tradition that is closely linked to court etiquette and is intended to avoid awkward situations during official appearances.
