Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) have stated that the new offensive coincides with other local operations in the Lugansk region and the eastern part of the Zaporozhye region, whose aim is "to prevent the movement of Ukrainian forces to key front-line regions."

In the report about Avdiivka near Donetsk, analysts warn that the enemy is trying to distract the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Robotyne in this way.

ISW describes operations near Avdiivka as a "significant offensive", aimed at "encircling a group of Ukrainian soldiers in the city and capturing it."
