The Russian ruble, which in a sense is a mirror of the Russian economy, is in an increasingly worse situation. The American dollar reached its highest level against the currency of Vladimir Putin's regime on the Moscow stock exchange on Monday since the end of March 2022.

After Russia's attack on Ukraine in February 2022, the Russian ruble's exchange rate against the dollar collapsed, to put it mildly. Prior to Vladimir Putin's illegal invasion of his neighbors, one could buy less than 80 rubles for a bill with the image of George Washington. Shortly thereafter, it was over 130.

The situation from Moscow's perspective has stabilized, but in recent months the Russian currency has started to plummet again. According to experts from Russia, the ruble is heading towards the bottom it hit after the war started every week.

On Tuesday, October 3, we wrote on money.pl that the ruble broke the psychological barrier for the second time this year. Its value then fell below one cent. A week later, the situation is even worse.

Putin has a problem. Something bad is happening with the Russian ruble

The "Kommiersant" Journal reported on October 8 that during trading on the Moscow stock exchange, the American dollar rose above 102 rubles. The newspaper emphasizes that this is the highest value of the US currency since March 23, 2022.

According to data from stooq.pl, the dollar has strengthened against the ruble by 41.28 percent in the past two years. Over the course of a year, it strengthened by 60.44 percent, and since January 1, 2023 - it has strengthened by 38.35 percent.

Russian media, as we wrote on money.pl, make no secret that the weak condition of the national currency is nothing good. Experts clearly say that it is a factor exacerbating inflation over the Volga. And it has been increasingly affecting Russians in recent weeks. So much so that Russian President Vladimir Putin has named fighting the rise in goods and services prices as "the highest priority".
