The prosecution against, former FBI informant Alexander Smirnov
Smirnov is accused of spreading false information about Joe Biden and his son - Hunter Biden. He falsely claimed the pair has ties with Russian intelligence and passed those claims to the FBI.
It is not a very pleasant time for the president's son
It is a turbulent time for the son of the United States president. Hunter Biden has recently explained the alleged business benefits connected to his father's position. This time he was accused of... working together with Russian intelligence. The same has been said about the president of the U.S. himself. Alexander Smirnov is now being prosecuted for spreading false information.
The prosecution and the court case
Prosecutors were giving a lot of information about Alexander Smirnov's ties to Russian intelligence. They claimed that he has ongoing relations with very high-ranked Russian intelligence officials and that they have been responsible for working together with Smirnov and supplying him with false information to cause a backlash into Biden trying to influence the presidential elections. It turns out the previous case was also connected to those actions.
Smirnov was granted temporary freedom by the court as he was not arrested. He was ordered, though, to surrender his two passports and is tracked by the GPS systems. What is more, and very interesting, Alexander Smirnow refused to answer any questions while leaving the court on Tuesday.
Smirnov is also accused of lying in the case of alleged bribery. He passed false information to the FBI, claiming that a Ukrainian energy company called Burisma paid a bribe to the pair of Joe Biden and Hunter Biden. Smirnov also claims that he was part of an ongoing plot of the Republican Party aiming at Joe Biden's impeachment, which failed severely.
We quote the filing after BBC:
Shall Alexander Smirnov be pleaded guilty he could face up to twenty-fine years of imprisonment.
