Media in the Gaza Strip associated with Hamas report that Jamila al-Shanti, the widow of the co-founder of Hamas - Abdel Aziz al-Rantisi, and the first woman elected to the political office of this terrorist group, was killed in an Israeli air raid on Thursday. We do not know more details for now.
In 2021, Al-Shanti became the first woman to be elected to Hamas' political bureau, its highest decision-making body. Her election was seen as a significant step towards the inclusion of women in Hamas, traditionally considered a conservative and male-dominated organization.
This marked an important moment in the history of Palestinian political movements and showed a changing dynamic within the group.
Her death ominously reminded us of the ongoing conflict in the region and the toll it has taken on both political leaders and civilians - emphasize Palestinian media.
It's worth noting, that her husband Abd al-Aziz ar-Rantisi died 19 years ago, who was a Palestinian leader and the head of Hamas.
Israel eliminates opponents
A Middle East expert reported that Israel is carrying out a systematic plan to eliminate all structures of Hamas and other factions participating in the terrorist offensive on October 7.
Not only the militias of terrorist organizations are the targets, but also their political, industrial, or intellectual structures. Organizations, such as Hamas, conduct extensive educational, social, financial, and medical activities.
Military structures are a part of it. Therefore, such an organization cannot be destroyed, as Israel claims, without striking civilian structures.
