The Last of Us series. Disappointing news for the fans
"The Last of Us," one of the most talked-about HBO series this year, has just revealed the expected release date for its second season. Regrettably, it isn't good news.

The series, based on the renowned video game of the same name, first launched on the PlayStation 3 console in 2013. It received glowing reviews (96 percent on Rotten Tomatoes) and had impressive viewership numbers. For instance, the last episode amassed an audience of 8.2 million viewers just in the US, showing a growth of 75 percent in viewership between the first and ninth episodes.
Given its popularity, the announcement of the second season wasn't much of a surprise. The original creators, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckman will return to helm it. The first season followed the plot of the 2013 game, and the second season is expected to adapt "The Last of Us 2" from 2020, a game that boasted a more intricate plot and longer gameplay than its predecessor.
Unfortunately, fans will have to be patient as the second season won't be airing anytime soon. Although the creators are back at work, filming is not expected to start until 2024. HBO and HBO Max chief Casey Bloys revealed at a press conference that premieres are anticipated no earlier than 2025, marking a two-year gap since the first season. This delay is due to an ongoing actors' strike.
Details about the sequel's cast remain unknown. However, rumors suggest that the critical character Abby might be played by Florence Pugh, known for her role in "Black Widow". This information awaits confirmation or denial.
