Gaza Strip conflict: get up-to-the-minute updates

According to The Times of Israel, Israel's war cabinet will convene today at 14:30 Eastern Time, with the primary agenda being the "progress in efforts to achieve an agreement for the release of hostages held by Hamas and other terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip".

Unofficial Reports Suggest Potential Hostage Release by Hamas

Recent media reports suggest that a group of hostages held in the Gaza Strip may be released in the coming days.

As the result of negotiations led by Qatari diplomats with Hamas, a group of women and children should be released, subject to a ceasefire by Israel lasting 3-5 days. Additionally, a certain number of Palestinian women and underage prisoners from Israeli prisons would also be released.

Reuters also issued a similar report. A negotiator informed the agency that while Hamas has approved the proposal, Israel is "still negotiating the details". Mediation efforts are being coordinated with US authorities.

The Times of Israel notes that the simultaneous occurrence of identical reports across different Israeli media outlets likely points towards a planned leak by the authorities.
