It is not known what charges the Palestinian was detained under. Israeli forces maintain that they were fired upon. As a result of their response to the gunfire, the suspect was wounded.
Reuters reports that the family of the wounded Palestinian asked the Israeli soldiers to allow medics to attend to him. The soldiers remained unresponsive to these appeals. They tied the injured man to the hood of the vehicle and drove off despite two ambulances waiting nearby.

On video footage shared on social media, you can see a man tied to the hood of a military jeep. The vehicle passes by two ambulances and drives away.
The Israeli military confirmed that the incident took place. The Israeli Defense Forces issued a statement saying that soldiers violated military protocol because "the suspect was taken by the forces while tied on top of a vehicle." The military stated that the "conduct of the forces in the video of the incident does not conform to the values" of the Israeli army. It announced that the incident would be investigated.
Reuters reported that the man was treated by Red Crescent workers. However, his condition is unknown, and it is not known whether he is still in the hospital.
Casualties on both sides of the conflict
On October 7, 2023, Hamas fighters carried out a coordinated attack on Israeli territory, killing around 1,200 people. About 250 Israeli citizens were reportedly kidnapped in the Gaza Strip.
In retaliation, Israel is conducting a massive military operation in the Gaza Strip. According to estimates by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the conflict has resulted in over 40,000 Palestinian casualties.
