Hot days bring even warmer nights, significantly reducing the quality of sleep. As a result, we often feel tired. The Egyptian method of dealing with heat might solve these problems, and all you need is a straightforward thing that can help you sleep without air conditioning.

Sleep can be problematic in the summer due to tropical nights when temperatures exceed 68 degrees Fahrenheit. In such conditions, difficulty falling asleep is common, and the sleep is shallow and interrupted when we do fall asleep. So, how can we ensure better rest? One effective solution could be the Egyptian method for managing heat.

What is the Egyptian method for heat?

No one understands how to deal with heat better than those who live in countries where high temperatures are a daily occurrence. Egyptians, who experience such conditions for most of the year, have developed practical coping methods.

One of these methods allows for a calm and relaxed sleep on hot nights. Swap your duvet for a thin sheet and gently moisten it with water. You can spray bottle or soak the material in a bowl and wring out the excess water. The damp material will effectively cool your skin.

How else can you cool down on a hot night?

If the Egyptian method with a damp sheet doesn’t suit you, other ways exist to help you cool down at night.

Hang damp towels in the window to cool the room's interior.

Thoroughly ventilate your bedroom in the evening. You can also sleep with the window open.

Sleep naked or in light, natural-fabric pajamas that allow air to flow.

Move your mattress to the floor, where it is usually cooler.

Sleep on your side so that less of your body surface is in contact with the mattress. This helps prevent overheating, especially of the lower back and forehead.

Regardless of the season and temperature, specific rules must be followed to improve sleep quality. Ensure the bedroom is used exclusively for nighttime rest; avoid watching TV or reading books there. Keep the bed neatly made at all times. Before sleeping, avoid using a cell phone and computer, and refrain from stimulating activities like watching horror movies. Consistently going to bed and waking up simultaneously is crucial for maintaining good sleep quality.
