Texas wildfire scorches thousands, marking second-largest blaze in state's history

Since Wednesday, the media has been flooded with more photos and videos of fire consuming vast swaths of land in the Panhandle of Texas.
So far, the fires have consumed 900,000 acres, and according to the BBC, one person lost their life, and many were forced to evacuate their homes. The fires also cut off power to residential and business buildings.
According to media reports, it is the second-largest fire in Texas' history since records began in 2005. The first, most devastating fire was the East Amarillo Complex fire in 2006, which burned as much as 1,400 square miles and killed 13 people, according to the Associated Press.
