Tesla showroom hit in Berlin as 'new generation' protests Musk
Activists from the group New Generation staged a protest by splashing blue paint on a Tesla showroom in Berlin. They were expressing opposition to Elon Musk's political actions, the company's owner. The protesters emphasized that the color of the paint was not accidental.
On Monday, an unusual protest took place in Berlin. Activists from the group New Generation, formerly known as Last Generation, splashed blue paint on the Tesla branch in the Reinickendorf district. One of the banners carried by the protesters read: "Closed until further notice due to fascism."
A police spokesperson explained to "Bild" that several people sprayed paint on the building's facade, the entrance area, and six display vehicles. Two women, aged 28 and 44, were detained but released after their identities were confirmed. An investigation into property damage is currently underway.
Blue paint as a symbol
The portal "Tagesspiegel" reports that the choice of blue was intentional. It is a color associated with the right-wing populist party Alternative for Germany (AfD). New Generation explained on Instagram that the protest aimed to draw attention to Elon Musk's "destructive political influence" in the USA. The color of the paint was meant as an allusion to Musk's alleged fascist stance and his support for the AfD.
The protest is part of a broader campaign that began on March 1st. In the past, the Last Generation group organized numerous protests, demanding more decisive climate policies.
New Generation calls for action
On the website neuegeneration.com, the activists emphasize that "the time for a non-violent democratic revolution" has come. According to them, the world is currently more unstable than ever, and society faces a choice: whether to allow the dominance of the super-rich and their right-wing allies or to set a course for a just future.
The activists declare that their actions are meant to show that there is an alternative path. "Together, we are starting the protests. We are putting pressure on politicians," they write on their page.
