Tesla sales tumble as Musk's political ties questioned
Tesla's electric car sales in the EU continue to decline, with a notable 52.6 percent drop year-over-year in April. This follows a 36 percent decrease the previous month compared to March 2024, as reported by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).
In April, 5,475 new Tesla vehicles were registered, down from 11,540 in April 2024. In the first four months of this year, 41,677 Tesla cars were registered in the EU, compared to 77,314 during the same period last year, representing a 46.1 percent decline.
Overall, Tesla's share of the European vehicle market decreased year-over-year in April, dropping to 0.6 percent (a decrease of 0.5 percent).
The echoes of Musk's activities
Tesla began losing its electric vehicle market share when Elon Musk became involved in political activities during Donald Trump's administration.
Elon Musk recently announced that his activities with DOGE, the Department of Government Efficiency, are coming to an end. At the same time, he declared "full commitment" to his companies, pointing out the need for significant improvements in the social networking site X.
"Back to spending 24/7 at work and sleeping in conference/server/factory rooms," wrote Elon Musk in a post on X, responding to reports about outages of the former Twitter.
