A Tesla Cybertruck exploded in front of the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas, killing one person and injuring seven, reports CBS News.
The tragic incident occurred in front of Trump Towers in Las Vegas, where the Tesla Cybertruck exploded and burst into flames. According to CBS News, the explosion resulted in one death, while seven others suffered minor injuries.
Sheriff Kevin McMahill from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department stated that there was one fatality in the vehicle, whose identity has not yet been established. "At present, we are investigating several leads, but we are not ready to disclose any details," McMahill said during a press conference.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. McMahill noted that authorities are aware of a recent attack in New Orleans, where a driver deliberately drove into a crowd, killing at least 10 people. "We are taking every precaution to ensure the safety of our community," he added.
Elon Musk, the head of Tesla and a close advisor to the new president, announced that the company is investigating the incident.
"The entire Tesla team is probing this incident at the moment. We will post more information when we learn anything. We've never seen anything like this," Musk said.
The Cybertruck, the latest vehicle from Musk's company, has faced many problems since its debut, and there have been several instances of vehicle explosions following accidents.
In the past year, Elon Musk has become a close advisor to Trump, leading the Department of Government Efficiency. Along with Vivek Ramaswamy, Musk is aiming to reduce billions of dollars in federal spending.
