Tesla enthusiasts can finally celebrate. After four years of multiple promises and shifting timelines, Elon Musk has finally debuted the production-ready Cybertruck. Coinciding with the brand's reputation, not all promises have been kept, but one cannot deny that the design is striking.
The pinnacle of these creations is the "Cyberbeast" version, boasting three potent electric motors with an aggregate power of 1127 horsepower. Next in line is the dual-motor model, delivering an output of 804 horsepower. The less powerful single-engine model is projected to join the ranks in 2025, though its power is yet to be revealed.
The known details regarding performance are far from disappointing - the less powerful version can reach sixty mph in 6 seconds, the 804 horsepower version in 4 seconds, and the acclaimed "Cyberbeast" in a staggering 2.6 seconds. This comes with a hefty curb weight of 6786 lbs. Evidently, the Cybertruck isn't a lightweight vehicle, but it does boast a commendable towing capacity, exceeding 13889 lbs.
The range, which varies between 250 and 339 miles depending on the model, is a tad disappointing. Though not dismal, it falls short of Elon Musk's initial promise. Back in 2019, during the premiere, values of up to an impressive 500 miles were discussed.
While range fell short of the promise, prices were elevated. This is to be expected, given the impact of COVID, war, and inflation on the market. Those interested in the Cybertruck will now need to shell out a minimum of $60,990 - $21,090 more than Musk originally announced. This is still concerning the single-engine variant, which won’t be available until at least 2025. The quicker 804 horsepower variant is tagged at $79,990 while the top-tier "Cyberbeast" is priced at a hefty $99,990.
We will not truly know what the Cybertruck brings to the table until the coming months. Musk presented the first 10 units at the premiere on November 30th. A reported 2 million people are on the waiting list. Ensuring these orders are catered for in the coming years is sure to keep Tesla exceptionally busy.
