The city of Rockford, Illinois, was thrown into terror on Wednesday evening when police received reports of stabbing incidents in several areas of the city.

The Rockford Police Department stated in the press release that four people were killed and five others were hospitalized with injuries as a result of Wednesday evening's stabbings.

"On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at approximately 1:14 p.m., Rockford Police officers responded to multiple addresses in the area of Holmes Street, Winnetka Drive, and Cleveland Avenue. We are currently working through the details of the investigation and further updates will follow as the investigation continues," said local police in the statement published on X.

Police added that the suspect was a 22-year-old male who had already been taken into custody at 1:35 p.m. the same day. His motivations are still unclear.

The dead victims were identified as a 15-year-old girl, a 22-year-old man, a 49-year-old man, and a 63-year-old woman.
