The Israeli police have reported that two terrorists opened fire at a bus stop at the entrance of the city. The incident took place at the Givat Shaul intersection, near the city entrance. The attackers reportedly targeted civilians at a nearby bus stop.

The police neutralized both terrorists. The identities of the attackers remain uncertain. The Times of Israel website earlier claimed the attackers were two Palestinians, who were later identified as being from East Jerusalem. The website posted a photograph of a pistol and a rifle found at the location of the attack.

According to Magen David Adom, the Israeli medical rescue team, among the victims was a young woman and one other individual. Furthermore, eight more people were injured during the terrorist attack.

Recordings of the attack began to circulate on social media soon after. In one video published by the KAN News portal, gunshots can be heard in the background at a busy intersection, followed by visuals of people fleeing the scene.

In light of the attack, Highway 1 leading to Jerusalem was shut down, and traffic was diverted to Highway 16.
