Tensions flare as Israel advances into Lebanon, deadly clashes ensue
Disturbing information is emerging from the Middle East. According to state media in Lebanon, on Saturday, the Israeli army advanced about 3 miles into the country. This is the farthest they have gone since the beginning of October, when Israeli soldiers first crossed the border following the latest escalation of the war against Hezbollah.

The Lebanese NNA agency reports that Israeli troops clashed with Hezbollah fighters. During the fighting, they captured a strategic hill in the town of Chamaa and then withdrew to their original positions. According to Lebanon's Ministry of Health, at least six people died, including three children, and eleven were injured.
This ground action is accompanied by airstrikes. For nearly a week, Israel has been shelling the southern outskirts of Beirut. Previously, airstrikes also targeted central and eastern Lebanon. There is currently no information on casualties from these strikes.
On Saturday morning, Israeli rockets fell near archaeological sites around the city of Tyre, where ruins from Roman times are being studied. This site is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Tragically, two doctors lost their lives there.
The government in Tel Aviv consistently maintains that attacks on targets in Lebanon are part of the fight against Hezbollah terrorists. Among the targets hit were a weapons depot and the organization's headquarters.
Exchange of fire between Israel and Lebanon
In retaliation for the recent attacks, Hezbollah attacked a synagogue in Haifa in northern Israel on Saturday evening. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, but two people were injured in the shelling.
