Tragedy in Wales: Families Mourn Three Teenagers
Mark Drakeford, the First Minister of Wales, offered his condolences in an online statement. "My thoughts are with the families and friends of those involved in this tragic incident in Coedely. Heartfelt thanks to all the emergency services working onsite," he said.
Daniel Chalfont, Morgan Smith's father, bid farewell to his son on social media. "My son, Morgan Smith: the most perfect son you could dream of. I miss you so much already. I don't know how I'll manage without you. I'm literally broken," he wrote.
Maerdy Boxing Club also paid tribute to Morgan, an amateur boxing champion. "Morgan was not only a wonderful person but also a very talented boxer, who became a Welsh champion, representing Wales in the British Championships," his teammates wrote. They announced that they would suspend participation in all sports competitions during this period of mourning.
The three men died in a collision involving a car and a bus. Two other men were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. The police are urging any eyewitnesses to the accident who can help in determining the sequence of events to step forward.
Meanwhile, the officers are asking the public not to circulate unconfirmed reports or speculation. This follows an uncorroborated claim that, in addition to the bus and passenger car, a motorcycle was also involved in the accident, which contradicts the police's findings. Chief Inspector Steve Jones affirmed that the officers would investigate this claim. "These are tragic circumstances, and we don't want internet speculation to inflict additional pain on the victims' families," said the officer.
