American actress Suzanne Somers has battled three different cancers in her life. She used various methods, attracting criticism from doctors. She would have celebrated her 77th birthday on October 16.
Suzanne Somers gained popularity in the 70s thanks to the series "Three's Company". She was nominated for a Golden Globe for the role of Chrissy. The producers fired her after the fourth season when she demanded a raise from $30,000 to $150,000 per episode, which is exactly how much her co-star John Ritter was earning. The bosses at ABC did not hide the fact that they fired the unruly feminist as an example to deter other actresses.
- Life is a roller coaster. When you're up high, everything is cool. Falls aren't as fun anymore, but that's when you learn. All careers hit a wall. I rediscovered myself. I keep going - she said in an interview with "People".
Suzanne Somers had her show in Las Vegas, then she starred in the series "Step By Step", but over time she focused on managing her cosmetic empire, which she developed since the 80s.
She began her dark journey through life with cancer just after her 20s, when tumors were detected in her uterus, fortunately at an early stage. Then she struggled with melanoma. Both fights were victorious. The worst enemy turned out to be the third cancer, which attacked her breasts, for the first time in 2000.
The actress tried many treatment methods, but she didn't want to undergo chemotherapy. She praised various forms of alternative medicine, including supposedly miraculous diets, which drew the wrath of the American Oncological Society.
Over the last 23 years, Suzanne Somers has had periods of remission, then the cancer would reactivate, most recently before the holidays. It was exceptionally aggressive.
"This is not new to me. I know how to arm myself. I am a warrior" - she wrote on social media.
Suzanne Somers passed away in her home on October 15, a day before her 77th birthday. Her husband Alan and son Bruce were with her until the end.
