Suspect caught in murder of ex‑supreme council deputy Iryna Farion

The arrest of a person suspected of murdering former Supreme Council deputy Iryna Farion was announced by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. According to investigators, the man had been preparing for the assassination for at least a month. In Lviv, he attacked her on the street and fatally shot her in the head.
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the arrested young man is 18 years old.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko, just informed me about the arrest of the suspect in the murder of Iryna Farion in Dnipro. The arrest operation was very difficult. Over recent days, hundreds of specialists of the National Police of Ukraine, SBU (security service) and other services worked on solving the murder," said Volodymyr Zelensky.
Investigative activities are still ongoing, and further studies are being conducted.
The head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, stated that the 18-year-old suspect is a resident of Dnipro.
According to investigators, he had been preparing for the crime for some time. To this end, he rented at least three apartments in Lviv.
Our investigation leans towards the conclusion that the 18-year-old shooter is the sole perpetrator, said Klymenko.

Iryna Farion was murdered on the night of July 19 near her home in Lviv. The former deputy was shot in the head. She was still alive when the ambulance arrived, but she died in the hospital. The attacker managed to flee the scene.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs placed the perpetrator on the wanted list, publishing his photograph. According to the police, the man was aged around 20, of slim build, and height 5'7" - 5'11".
According to investigators, the murder of Farion was contracted, and preparations for it lasted at least a month.

On the evening of July 24, a Telegram channel associated with the neo-Nazi organization National Socialism/White Power (NS/WP) published a "Manifesto of the Ukrainian Autonomist Racist Revolutionary".
The author, referred to as "an autonomous comrade-in-arms," claimed responsibility for the murder of the former deputy. In his "manifesto," the author called Farion "an enemy of Ukraine and a racial traitor".
