Delight your guests with scrumptious puff pastry horns filled with tasty ingredients
Ingredients for 5 pieces:
For the pastry horns:
- 0.62 lbs of puff pastry,
- 1 egg,
- 3 tablespoons of sesame seeds.
For the filling:
- 0.55 lbs of cream cheese,
- 4 pickles,
- 0.13 lbs of pickled mushrooms,
- 1/2 a cup of finely chopped fresh dill,
- 2 tablespoons of mayo,
- 2 tablespoons of mustard,
- Seasonings: salt/pepper to taste.
For the add-ons:
- 20 slices of mini salami,
- 5 slices of prosciutto,
- 5 cherry tomatoes,
- 2 leaves of green lettuce,
- 5 skewers.
Preparation method:
Step 1. Start by creating the base for the horns from puff pastry using a cone made from a sheet of aluminum foil.
Step 2. Lay out a sheet of puff pastry on your kitchen counter and cut it into several horizontal strips using a pizza cutter.
Step 3. Wrap each strip around the aluminum foil cone, starting at the top and moving down towards the wider base.
Step 4. Brush an egg over each cone to give them a golden color, then sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bake the puff pastry horns for about 20 minutes in an oven preheated to 374 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 5. While the horns are baking, prepare the filling by combining cream cheese, finely chopped pickles, pickled mushrooms, fresh dill, mustard, mayo, and salt and pepper. Mix the ingredients with a regular tablespoon.
Step 6. For the add-ons, fold the mini salami slices in half and shape them into little roses. For the prosciutto, fold each slice into a light accordion shape.
Step 7. Once the horns are baked, stuff them with the cream cheese mixture.
Step 8. Decorate each snack with some green lettuce and the prepared add-ons. Add the mini skewers and top with a cherry tomato. Enjoy your homemade feast!
