Street style alert. "Hot librarian" appears to be the new trend

The appeal of overt sexuality is fading. At this point, "naked dresses" that in recent years laid bare women's bodies, leaving little to the imagination, are being replaced. Fashion is shifting from emphasizing the body to focusing instead on intellect and unconventional chic. The fashion world is already buzzing about this newfound trend. So, say hello to librarians, secretaries, and geeks!

We're revisiting times when women channeled their inner geeks, hiding behind glasses, fastening their shirts up to the collar, and concealing their bodies under layers of clothing. But the movie archetypes of "ugly ducklings" or "unfortunate victims" who transform into beauties, are turning around now. This indicates that any moment now, we will embrace dressing like librarians, geeks, and bookworms, who seem to be unconcerned with fashion, ostensibly having consumed encyclopedias for breakfast.

The "hot librarian" trend for individualists

We've arrived at the point of resistance to trends that endorse fashion exhibitionism and maximum female body exposure. The appeal of sheer tulles, chiffons, intricate laces, and subtle lingerie is waning in the face of the rush that social media icons and trendsetters are propagating.

Is this a positive shift? Definitely, it aims to highlight individuality. It is all about the subtleties and shows that sexiness isn't always about revealing clothing, but mystery, understatement, and what is left unseen. With respect to the new trend known as "ugly dressing", we can confidently say that intellect is more captivating than the clothing itself.

How to pull off the "hot librarian" look?

"Naked dressing" gives way to "ugly dressing", and pleated to pencil skirts, loafers paired with socks, rectangular glasses, retro briefcases, measures of preppy uniform styles, and layers of sweaters and polos slip into the picture.

We embrace the exaggerated effects without holding back or fear. If you aim to channel the modern "hot librarian" style, don't disregard the little imperfections, a misstep, or an element of surprise. An undone sweater? A skirt shorter than expected? Vibrant sock colours? Absolutely, the pursuit of perfection isn't the goal here.

The "ugly" is the new "pretty"

In 2022, Miuccia Prada introduced a striking blend of hot and stylish librarians to the runway. The fashion house Miu Miu is already showcasing wardrobe pieces for spring-summer 2024 that shape the imagery of geeks, conservatives, and chess club members. They present a fresh approach to fashion, where uniqueness and eccentricity are captivating. Conventional style norms, like beauty standards, shift over time. Generation Z and their unconventional fashion perspective make it possible to appreciate style and beauty in unexpected places.

An unconventional look at fashion

Granny chic, preppy, or camp may not appear feminine initially, but they paradoxically enhance your appeal. When all aesthetic and "pretty" currents have been exhausted in fashion, in search of novelty, it turned to the unattractive, now garnering the title of "cool". Thus, chunky platform shoes and vintage cardigans have become a must-have for trendsetters eager to keep up with whatever the fashion world offers.
