In a statement, Maersk, the Danish shipping company that owns the freighter, noted that the incident happened on Friday during Storm Pia when the ship was en route from Bremerhaven in Germany to Gdańsk.

The statement also underscored that none of the crew members were hurt and the ship is fit to continue its voyage.

As cited by the Danish media, four containers landed on the coasts of northern Jutland. Beaches were littered with various items including refrigerators, shoes, and plastic bags filled with syringes.

Authorities warned the public against taking these items from the beach, hinting that this action could be classified as theft.

Maersk pledged to assist in cleaning up the area.
