Kevin, a steward who posts under the TikTok handle @ichbinVin, recently revealed "dirty secrets of the industry" in a viral video. Among these revelations, Kevin raises a caution flag against a popular drink that passengers are fond of consuming on flights.

Kevin frequently shares behind-the-scenes insights about his job on TikTok, offering many practical tips for airline passengers.

Avoid drinking this beverage on a plane

In his newest video, viewed more than 230,000 times, Kevin cautions his followers against consuming a particular beverage on planes.

Kevin delves into the contentious issue of airplane coffee in his account @ichbinvin. As many experts suggest, passengers should abstain from drinking coffee on flights, as aircraft water tanks are often contaminated.

Agreeing with this opinion, Kevin boldly declares that airplane coffee is "disgusting". He advises passengers to arrive at the airport 10 minutes earlier and purchase coffee at the terminal.

Kevin states that the tanks are not just rarely cleaned, but also the remnants are disposed of in the lavatory, making it a non-hygienic practice.

Regrettably, research by City University in New York affirms Kevin's stance, stating that airplane water quality is unsatisfactory. The research revealed that only three of the 11 major airlines examined provided passengers with clean, uncontaminated water.

Think before choosing to drink alcohol on board

Interestingly enough, passengers also need to be cautious with the popular cocktail, Bloody Mary, but for entirely different reasons.

"Honestly, it's probably the worst drink to order during a flight," says Elizabeth Squillante, an advisor on the Springboard Travel platform.

Why? Well, a high salt content coupled with limited movement can cause limb swelling, particularly during lengthy travel. Hence, passengers should be mindful when ordering alcoholic beverages while flying.

"It seems, one alcoholic drink in the air is practically equivalent to two under usual conditions," says Rana Good, a travel expert for women's magazine Naïra NYC. "It's definitely worth keeping this in mind when deciding whether to order another drink," she advises.
