State of emergency declared in Kursk amid Ukraine border attacks
A state of emergency was declared in the Kursk region on Wednesday, August 7. The region's acting governor, Alexey Smirnov, announced this on his Telegram channel.
The information appeared on the second day of Ukrainian forces' attacks on the territory of the Kursk region, which is located near the Ukrainian border.
The Russian agency TASS reported that fighting continues at the border and involves helicopters.

Earlier on Wednesday, Smirnov reported a missile threat. He said that several thousand people were evacuated from the border region, all mass gatherings were canceled, and blood donation drives were being organized.
