Starmer's diplomacy surge: UK polls soar, Trump's support dips

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's efforts regarding Ukraine and relations with the United States have brought him the highest ratings in polls in six months, according to a YouGov survey. The politician had recently faced significant criticism.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer first traveled to Washington for talks with Donald Trump, then hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at Downing Street, just a day after a heated dispute at the White House.

Starmer hosted leaders from European countries, Canada, and top EU and NATO officials the following day.

The diplomatic round boosted Starmer's support. According to the YouGov survey, Britons viewing the prime minister positively rose to 31%, up from 26% in mid-February. In recent months, Starmer has dealt with several issues related to migration.

Trump loses, Zelensky gains

At the same time, 80% of Britons view Donald Trump negatively. Two weeks ago, 73% of respondents expressed critical views about the former U.S. president.

The media point out that Trump has lost support even among voters of the right-wing Reform UK. The percentage of these voters with an unfavorable opinion of him increased by 25 percentage points since mid-February, reaching 53%.

The percentage of Britons viewing Volodymyr Zelensky positively rose from 64% to 71%. The most significant change was noted among Reform UK voters - in mid-February, 49% had a positive view of the Ukrainian president, and now it is 62%. Zelensky has thus become more popular among right-wing voters in the UK than Donald Trump.
