Starbucks conjures pork-infused latte for Chinese Lunar New Year

As reported by CNN, the delectable "Abundant Year Savory Latte" is only available in Starbucks locations within China. Pork, a crucial component of Chinese dishes, is the primary ingredient for this beverage. More precisely, it's based on Dongpo Rou, a mouthwatering delicacy concocted from stewed pork belly, sugar, soy sauce, yellow wine, and other seasonings.

The "Abundant Year Savory Latte" combines the taste of Dongpo Rou in the form of a sauce, espresso, and milk. It is typically garnished with a slice of meat and an extra serving of pork sauce. "Consuming meat symbolizes prosperity in the impending year," Starbucks mentioned in a post on Weibo, a Chinese social media platform.

This beverage is said to integrate "traditional New Year customs into coffee" and create "an unexpected mix of spicy and sweet flavors." The latte is exclusively available in Starbucks Reserve locations across China.

As noted by CNN, this beverage isn't on the inexpensive side. Costing 68 yuan, it roughly translates to 10 dollars.
