Star Trek actor Kenneth Mitchell succumbs to ALS after five-year battle at 49

We've received heartrending news from across the sea. At the age of 49, Kenneth Mitchell, esteemed for playing various characters in the "Star Trek" series, has passed away. This expansive universe of "Star Trek" often draws parallels to "Star Wars". Mitchell’s engagement with the iconic series didn't conclude there. He lent his voice to various characters in the animation "Star Trek: Lower Decks". Additionally, fans of science fiction and superheroes might also remember Mitchell from his role in "Captain Marvel", which had its cinema premiere in 2019.

Mitchell is survived by his wife, Susan May Pratt, and their two children, Lilah and Kallum. His family announced his passing via an obituary posted on his Instagram profile.

The actor's family bids him farewell

For five and a half years, Ken bravely faced the numerous daunting challenges posed by ALS. He truly managed to rise above them with grace, maintaining a commitment to lead a full and joyful life at every moment- we learn.

Mitchell was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in August 2018. The disease progressed rapidly, necessitating the use of a wheelchair by October 2019. The deterioration in his health condition was publicly announced in February 2020, during an interview with "People".

The last character Mitchell portrayed was Joe in the series "The Old Man".
