Spicing up your love life. How curry can boost libido and offer health benefits
Curry is a versatile kitchen ingredient, beautifully complementing vegetables, meat, fish, eggs, and rice. It's also the main component in traditional Hindi sauces. Curry is a mix of several herbs and spices, including turmeric, cinnamon, black pepper, ginger, cumin, fenugreek, coriander, chili, and cardamom.

Rich in valuable vitamins, mineral compounds, and polyphenols, curry's varied ingredients lend antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and cancer-fighting properties. Furthermore, it boosts immune function, aids the circulatory system, and can alleviate joint pain.
However, the benefits of this spice don't stop there. According to a recent analysis by Australian scientists at the Centre for Integrative Clinical and Molecular Medicine, fenugreek, an ingredient in curry, boosts libido and has effects similar to viagra. After the study concluded, 25 percent of participants who regularly ingested fenugreek extract reported an improvement in their libido.
The study authors posit that the libido enhancing properties of fenugreek are due to saponins, which increase testosterone levels. A similar study in India, in which 48 women were given a fenugreek-based preparation, supports this theory. By the experiment's end, raised levels of estradiol and testosterone resulted in 42 percent of participants reporting an improvement in their sexual life.
Regular intake of fenugreek extract helps maintain hormonal balance in women. This plant, also known as Greek clover or Greek hay, lowers the risk of developing colon cancer, atherosclerosis, and neurodegenerative diseases. It also helps improve digestion and can be a useful treatment for inflammatory conditions of the gastric mucosa.
