Tea with pepper has been consumed in Eastern cultures for ages to maintain health. It is a commonly practiced custom there. Such a brew perfectly warms and stimulates, making it an excellent addition to the fall and winter menu. Furthermore, it aids in the weight loss process. Drink it regularly, and you'll fit into your favorite jeans that are still too tight for the New Year's Eve party.
Pepper tea for weight loss. How does it work?
Pepper tea can support weight loss thanks to piperine, a compound in pepper. This compound is responsible for the pungent taste of pepper and a range of its properties, including those that accelerate metabolism, improve overall digestion, and increase the absorption of certain vitamins, such as vitamin B.
Pepper also has thermogenic properties, meaning it stimulates fat burning, thus accelerating the process of losing excess weight. However, it's crucial to know that pepper tea will not replace physical activity and a balanced diet but can support the weight loss process. Regular consumption of this drink is recommended.
How to prepare pepper tea?
You can prepare pepper tea using either black or green tea as a base. As you usually do, pour boiling water over tea bags or dried tea leaves, then add freshly crushed pepper (a quarter of a teaspoon is enough) and steep the mixture for about 5 minutes. After this time, strain the brew through a fine sieve and sip it slowly.
It's worth adding honey, lemon, cinnamon, cloves, star anise, or other spices and citrus fruits to the prepared tea to enrich the flavor. A great idea is to combine piperine with another valuable compound—curcumin, which is present in turmeric. Piperine can increase the bioavailability of curcumin by up to 2000 percent.
