Sparkling clean ovens: Try these simple dishwasher pod tricks
We often delay cleaning the oven until the very last minute, only to face dried-on grease. A simple trick can make this task much easier, and you won't need any specialized products.
High temperatures cause grease and food residues to burn and stick to the oven walls, creating stubborn stains. These not only affect the appearance of the appliance but also reduce its efficiency and can alter the taste of the dishes being prepared.
A dishwasher pod works wonders
There are two methods using a dishwasher pod to tackle oven grime. For the first method, all you need is a pod, water, a heat-resistant dish, and a cloth. Here's how you do it:
Fill a heat-resistant dish with water and drop in a dishwasher pod. Place it inside an oven preheated to about 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes. The steam from the hot solution will work on the stains, softening them and making them easier to remove. The stains will practically slide off the walls, and you can wipe away any remnants with a damp cloth.
The second method involves a dishwasher pod and paper towels. Here's how to proceed: Place the pod in a bowl and pour hot water over it. Once dissolved, use a sponge to spread the solution inside the oven.
Next, soak sheets of paper towel in the solution and "stick" them to all the walls for 30 minutes. After this time, remove the paper, and use a damp rag to collect the residues. Your oven will look like new!
Steam with citrus works equally well
For those who prefer natural solutions, cleaning the oven with steam and a bit of citrus juice is an excellent alternative. This method effectively removes stubborn stains and leaves a pleasant aroma in the kitchen.
Start by placing a heat-resistant dish filled with water and juice squeezed from half a lemon or orange in the oven. Set the temperature to about 390 degrees Fahrenheit and keep the dish inside for about 30 minutes. After that, turn off the oven and wait a while.
The steam will soften the stains, making them easier to remove later. Once the appliance has cooled, use a damp cloth or paper towel to collect the grease and grime. There’s no easier way.
